Winery Visit with Wine Tasting in Requena

Guided visit to a DO Utiel-Requena winery with tasting of wines from the bobal grape variety, the native vine rooted in this 700-metre plateau for over 2,000 years. The tour begins in the vineyards (in season), where the winemaker explains how limestone soil, continental climate and altitude produce a grape with its own character: ripe fruit, soft tannins and an intense near-black colour. Then the French and American oak barrel room, where wines rest 6 to 18 months. The bottling line shows the final process. The guided tasting includes 3 to 5 wines: a fresh bobal rosé, a fruity young wine, a crianza with 12 months in barrel and, at premium wineries, a reserva or signature wine. Each glass is paired with local products: aged regional cheese, artisan longaniza sausage, extra virgin olive oil and village bread. Wineries range from family estates with own vineyards and limited production to historic cooperatives with decades of tradition. Requena is just 50 minutes from Valencia via the A-3.
