Discover Toledo

Toledo combines exceptional historical heritage with outdoor activities on the Tagus river and in the Montes de Toledo. The Tagus as it flows through the city offers kayaking and canoeing routes between granite cliffs and medieval mills. Eighty kilometres to the southwest, Parque Nacional de Cabañeros (40,000 ha of Mediterranean forest) provides hiking and wildlife watching with red deer, imperial eagles and lynx. MTB routes cross the plains of La Mancha and the river corridors of the Tagus and Algodor. Spring and autumn are the most recommended seasons, with temperatures of 16–24 °C and adequate Tagus water levels for kayaking. Summer (July–August) can reach 38–40 °C, making river activities and early-morning excursions the best option. Madrid is 70 km away via the A-42 (under 1 hour), making Toledo a popular day-trip destination for nature activities.
