Heritage and rock art of la Canal de Navarrés

Before the water, the county keeps time. The Caroig Massif holds one of the most important rock-art ensembles in the Mediterranean, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The jewel is the Cueva de la Araña in Bicorp, where some eight thousand years ago someone painted the famous honey-gathering scene, one of the world's most reproduced prehistoric images. This combo pairs a guided visit to the paintings with la Bastida de les Alcusses, the great Iberian settlement crowning a hill above the vineyards of Moixent, and a stroll through the Canal's villages: the counts' palace in Anna, the streets of Enguera and the washhouses and fountains that tell another story, that of tamed water.
