What you'll experience

Arrival and Lake of Saint Maurice

Meeting with the guide and briefing in Espot. 4x4 ride up to Estany de Sant Maurici for a walk along its shore beneath Els Encantats, the iconic image of the park. Return to town and first night.
High Lakes: Ratera and Amitges

Big mountain day: from Sant Maurici we ascend to the waterfall and Estany de Ratera, and further up, to Agulles d'Amitges and its refuge. Hanging lakes, ridges and views of three-thousand meter peaks.
Final route and return trip

One last hike tailored to the group and time, to say goodbye to the park, with enough time to return home in the afternoon.

Route to Lake Saint Maurice

First day: 4x4 ride and walk along the shores of Estany de Sant Maurici beneath the peaks of Els Encantats, the iconic image of the park.
Route to the high lakes of Ratera and Amitges

Second day, the big one: ascent to the waterfall and Estany de Ratera lake and, higher up, to Agulles d Amitges. Hanging lakes and views of peaks over 3000 meters.
4x4 Taxi Access to the Park

4x4 taxi transfer to the interior of the park, where private vehicles are not allowed. Brings you closer to the start of the routes and saves hours of access time.
Certified mountain guide

A certified mountain guide accompanies the group for three days: sets the pace, interprets the landscape and ensures safety in high mountain areas.

There is elevation gain and rocky terrain, so a moderate level of fitness is required. It's not a good fit if you are looking for total rest, long walks tire you out or if you prefer an urban destination with little mountain scenery.

What level do I need to be?

Moderate physical condition. You will be walking between 3 and 6 hours a day in the mountains, with elevation gain and rocky sections. No technical skills or prior experience are necessary, but you should be accustomed to walking.

Is access by 4x4 vehicle included?

Yes. The 4x4 taxi transfer into the park is included, as is a qualified mountain guide for all three days.

Where will we be staying?

Two nights in Espot, in mountain lodging with a fixed base, so you don’t have to pack and unpack your bags. You can choose between a rural hotel or a mountain refuge depending on availability.

What if the weather is bad?

The guide adapts the order and type of route to the weather forecast to make the most of each day. The mountains dictate, and safety comes first.

What’s the best time to go?

From May to October. Summer for the high lakes, autumn for forests in color and spring for the thaw and waterfalls at full flow.
