Río Mao Walkways

The Pasarelas del Río Mao are a series of wooden walkways attached to the cliffs of the Mao River canyon, located in Ribeira Sacra, Ourense province. This trail covers approximately 5 kilometers along the canyon, offering a hiking experience that blends nature and cultural landscape. Ribeira Sacra is renowned for its steep canyons and terraced vineyards that stretch along the slopes, creating a mosaic of green and ochre hues.

Along the route, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Mao River from an elevated perspective, with water flowing between rocky walls and native forests. The terraced vineyards, traditionally cultivated for wine production, stand out for their stepped arrangement following the terrain's orography. Walking the walkways feels like being suspended over the canyon, accompanied by the sounds of the river and wind.
