Description

Isla is a small coastal village in the municipality of Arnuero, nestled between the Bay of Santona to the east and Cape Ajo to the west. It combines historic heritage with uncrowded beaches on a stretch of coast that retains its rural character.

The village houses the Church of San Julian and Santa Basilisa (16th c.), the Palace of the Counts of Isla and a medieval pilgrim hospital. The beaches of Candano, Los Barcos, El Sable and Arnadal line the coast.

From Isla, coastal paths lead to Noja (east) and Ajo (west) along cliffs, meadows and marshlands. The atmosphere is peaceful even in summer, making it an alternative to the bustle of neighbouring beaches.
