Charco del Humo

Charco del Humo is a natural pool located in Monfragüe National Park, in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura. It is formed by a waterfall of the Tagus River that descends amidst rocks and native vegetation, creating a tranquil and fresh water spot. Its name comes from the mist generated by the falling water, forming a curtain that resembles smoke.

When visiting Charco del Humo, you can admire the waterfall feeding this natural pool, surrounded by the park's characteristic landscape with holm oaks, cork oaks, and rich biodiversity. It is an ideal place to appreciate nature in its purest form, listen to the sound of water, and observe birds and other local wildlife.

Monfragüe National Park has a history tied to the conservation of its Mediterranean ecosystems and the protection of emblematic species such as the black vulture and imperial eagle. Access to Charco del Humo is recommended via a marked hiking trail within the park. There are no specific facilities on site, so it is advisable to wear suitable footwear and bring water. The area is suitable for swimming in summer, though always with caution and respect for the natural surroundings. No prior reservation is required to visit, and access is free.
