What you'll experience

From Serinyà to the destination

Arrival and horse assignment in the morning. Departure to destination: on the Empordà route, you cross vineyards and grain fields towards Parets de l'Empordà; on the Banyoles route, you skirt the lake to the north shore. Light lunch on the way, mid-afternoon arrival at the lodging, shower and quiet dinner.
Return by a different track

Departure after optional breakfast. On the Empordà route you close the loop by inner Baix Empordà tracks; on the Banyoles route you climb the Rocacorba ridge with panoramic views of the lake and the Pyrenees. Lunch included en route and return to the stables mid-afternoon.

Night in rural lodging at destination

One night in rural lodging at the midpoint of the route, with dinner on day 1. Mas Torrencito on the Empordà route, lodging in the Banyoles area on the lake route.

Activities

Two guided riding days
Day 1 (out) and day 2 (back) with an expert guide both days, horses assigned by level and weight, helmet and vest included. 15-22 km per day, walk and trot.

Transfers

Arrive at Serinyà by your own car

Serinyà is 1h15 from Barcelona and 20 min from Girona. Free parking at the stables. Alternative: AVE train to Girona + taxi/rental.

Meals

Day 1 dinner and day 2 lunch

Quiet dinner at the lodging at the end of day 1 and lunch included en route on day 2. Catalan home-style cuisine; vegetarian options on request.

Extras

Optional visit: Reclau Viver caves

Just outside Serinyà, the prehistoric caves of Reclau Viver are one of the best-studied Middle Palaeolithic sites in Catalonia. Visit with a local guide; alternative: walk through Banyoles old town (1992 Olympics, monastery cloister).

Who this fits

It fits if you've ridden before (you're not an absolute beginner) and you want two relaxed days outdoors, alternating walk and trot. Couple, small group of friends or solo rider: group size is 2 to 6. It doesn't fit if you've never been on a horse, if you expect continuous gallop, or if you need a boutique hotel with spa: lodging here is simple rural lodging.

Is it ok if I've never ridden a horse?

No. You need intermediate level: walk, rising trot and sitting trot. If you're a beginner, take 2-3 lessons at any riding school first.

Can I choose the route?

Yes, subject to availability and the guide's judgment based on weather and group. Both routes (Mas Torrencito and Banyoles + Rocacorba) cost the same.

Is there a weight limit?

For the horses' wellbeing, the usual limit is 95 kg with gear. If you're heavier, please check first.

What if it rains?

Light rain is fine. If there's a weather alert, the guide will offer an alternative date.

Is there insurance?

Yes, liability insurance is included. Personal travel insurance is recommended.
