What you'll experience

Arrival in Grazalema

Check-in at the rural house. Walk through the historic centre and Plaza de España. Light dinner in the village. Weekend briefing.
Pinsapar and Majaceite

8:30 departure with guide to the Pinsapar (12 km, 5h). Lunch at an inn. Free afternoon or swimming in Majaceite pools (5 km flat). Cheese and game tasting dinner.
White Villages loop

Breakfast and your own pace. Zahara de la Sierra (castle and reservoir), Setenil de las Bodegas (cave-houses), Olvera (parador). Return or continue freely.

Lodging

Restored rural house in Grazalema or nearby village

2 nights in a traditional rural house, exposed beams, Andalusian courtyard. Double room with bathroom, homemade breakfast. Spread across Grazalema, Benamahoma or Zahara.

Meals

Full board with mountain cuisine

3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners with mountain products: payoyo cheese, game meat, local olive oil. Saturday lunch at a village inn.

Guided Pinsapar of Grazalema hike

12 km linear hike through the world's only Andalusian fir forest. Certified guide, permit handled, around 5h.
Pinsapar permit handled

We process the official Junta de Andalucía permit 10-15 days in advance. Capped at 30 slots/day.
Self-driven White Villages loop

Custom map and tips for Zahara → Setenil → Olvera (60 km, 4-5h). No guide: your pace, your stops.

Who this fits

With friends Adventure Ecotourism Photography

Fits if you're a couple, friends or a family with kids 10+ with moderate hiking experience. Also great for naturalist or photographer groups in autumn-winter (snowy pinsapar in January-February is spectacular).

Doesn't fit if someone has vertigo (Garganta Verde is intimidating from the rim), if you want a resort hotel with services, or if you come in August (extreme heat, Garganta Verde closed).

Will we need the car?

Yes, essential. Sunday's White Villages loop is car-based (Zahara 15 km, Setenil 35 km, Olvera 50 km). We can arrange rental if requested.

What if it rains the Pinsapar day?

If the forecast is storms or heavy rain, the guide will propose an alternative through lower forest (Salto del Cabrero or Majaceite). With light rain we go anyway: it's part of the sierra.

Can I bring my dog?

Not allowed in the Pinsapar or Garganta Verde (strict reserve). Allowed on other routes and in the White Villages, leashed. Confirm with the rural house.

How much elevation on the Pinsapar?

The standard linear route is 12 km round trip with 400-500 m accumulated elevation. Not technical but requires moderate fitness.
