What you'll experience

From Serinyà to the destination

Arrival and horse assignment in the morning. Departure to destination: if it’s the Empordà route, you cross vineyards and wheat fields towards Parets de l'Empordà; if it’s the Banyoles route, you ride along the lake to its northern shore. Light lunch on the trail, arrival in the mid-afternoon at the accommodation, shower and relaxed dinner.
Return by another route

Optional departure after breakfast. On the Empordà route, the loop closes on interior tracks of Bajo Ampurdán; on the Banyoles route, you ascend to the Serralada de Rocacorba with panoramic views of the lake and the Pyrenees. Lunch is included along the route, and return to the stables in the mid-afternoon.

Arrive at Serinyà by your own car

Serinyà is 1h15 from Barcelona and 20 min from Girona. Free parking at the stables. Alternative: AVE train to Girona + taxi/rental.

Day 1 dinner and day 2 lunch

Quiet dinner at the lodging at the end of day 1 and lunch included en route on day 2. Catalan home-style cuisine; vegetarian options on request.

Optional visit: Reclau Viver caves

Just outside Serinyà, the prehistoric caves of Reclau Viver are one of the best-studied Middle Palaeolithic sites in Catalonia. Visit with a local guide; alternative: walk through Banyoles old town (1992 Olympics, monastery cloister).

Serinyà is a village in the Pla de l'Estany county, north of Lake Banyoles, at the edge of the volcanic Garrotxa and the Empordà. Paleolithic sites of Reclau Viver are nearby; Mediterranean forest, oak groves and grain fields.

By car: Serinyà is 1h15 from Barcelona via the AP-7 and 20 min from Girona city on the N-260. Free parking at the stables. By train: AVE/Renfe to Girona, then rental car or taxi (20 min, ~€25). By plane: Girona-Costa Brava airport (35 min) or Barcelona-El Prat (1h30).

Who this fits

It fits if you've ridden before (you're not an absolute beginner) and you want two relaxed days outdoors, alternating walk and trot. Couple, small group of friends or solo rider: group size is 2 to 6. It doesn't fit if you've never been on a horse, if you expect continuous gallop, or if you need a boutique hotel with spa: lodging here is simple rural lodging.

Is it ok if I've never ridden a horse?

No. You need intermediate level: walk, rising trot and sitting trot. If you're a beginner, take 2-3 lessons at any riding school first.

Can I choose the route?

Yes, subject to availability and the guide's judgment based on weather and group. Both routes (Mas Torrencito and Banyoles + Rocacorba) cost the same.

Is there a weight limit?

For the horses' wellbeing, the usual limit is 95 kg with gear. If you're heavier, please check first.

What if it rains?

Light rain is fine. If there's a weather alert, the guide will offer an alternative date.

Is there insurance?

Yes, liability insurance is included. Personal travel insurance is recommended.
