Description

El Hondo Natural Park protects 2,387 hectares of wetland between Elche and Crevillente — the second most important in the Valencian Community. It is the main breeding site for the marbled teal (endangered) on the Iberian Peninsula and hosts significant populations of white-headed duck and flamingo.

Birdwatching itineraries are flat and accessible, with elevated hides beside historic irrigation reservoirs. The Information Centre in Crevillente offers guided walks by prior booking. Less touristic than the Santa Pola Salt Flats but ecologically more significant.
