Description

A 3,200-hectare natural park between Benicasim and Castellón, with peaks over 700 metres and sea views from Bartolo summit. The "desert" name comes from its use as a Carmelite monastic retreat since the 17th century. Pine forests, Mediterranean scrub and red sandstone formations create a unique landscape. Hiking routes of varying difficulty, old monastery ruins and an interpretation centre. Just 10 minutes from Benicasim beach.
