Description

The Cuevas del Canelobre open at 700 metres altitude on the northern slope of the Sierra del Cabeçó d'Or, near Busot. The main vault soars to 70 metres — one of Spain's tallest underground chambers — with Jurassic limestone formations dating back 145 million years. A 45-minute guided tour winds past stalactites, stalagmites and columns under dramatic lighting, including La Sagrada Familia (a 25-metre column) and El Canelobre, the chandelier-like formation that gives the caves their name.

The caves have exceptional acoustics and periodically host classical and contemporary music concerts. During the Spanish Civil War they served as a shelter and aircraft engine repair workshop. The interior temperature is a constant 18 °C with over 90% humidity — bring a light jacket.
