Description

Banyeres de Mariola crowns a hill in the heart of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park, with a 12th-century castle at the top and a cobblestoned old quarter that retains its medieval layout. It is the starting point for several hiking routes through the Sierra de Mariola — including the trail to the Cava Gran, a 17th-century snow well — and in spring its surroundings are blanketed in cherry blossom.

The Moors and Christians festivities (February) are among the oldest in the Valencian Community. The village produces the famed Mariola aromatic herbs and preserves public wash houses and historic fountains.
