Who this fits

With friends Adventure Ecotourism Disconnection
Built for fit hikers with previous experience of several 5-7 day treks, for those wanting their first major Pyrenean traverse without alpinism, for couples and small groups looking for 10 uninterrupted mountain days. Not the right fit for a first multi-day trek with a pack (better start shorter), for those needing a hotel every night, or with altitude sensitivity.

Frequently asked

Got a question not listed here? Just ask.

Why only the Aragonese section and not the full GR-11?
The full GR-11 (Cabo Higuer → Cap de Creus) is 840 km in some 45 days. The Aragonese section concentrates the three most spectacular national/natural parks in 10 stages. It's the section most operators offer. If you want the full GR-11 or a different section (Navarrese or Catalan), contact us.
What are the 10 stages?
Candanchú → Sallent de Gállego → Respomuso Refuge → Bujaruelo Refuge → Torla → Góriz Refuge → Pineta → Parzán → Estós Refuge → Cap de Llauset Refuge → Salardú. Times: 6-8 hours per stage with 800-1,200 m of positive elevation.
Is it hard?
Yes. It's a classic Pyrenean traverse with serious physical demands: 10 consecutive days with a pack, long stages, constant elevation. Not technical (no alpine gear in summer) but it requires good fitness. Recommended to have done at least a 5-7 day trek previously.
What's the best season?
June to mid-September, ideally July-August when all refugios are operational. In June there may be residual snow at high Posets-Maladeta passes. After 15 September some refugios close.
What about pack transfer?
Optional on request. Some stages can be done with local operator support moving your luggage between accommodations, letting you walk with a day pack (5-6 kg). The service doesn't cover all stages — those entering/leaving high-mountain refugios don't allow it. We close it by specific logistics.
What pack weight if I DON'T use transfer?
12-14 kg loaded: layered clothing, warm layer, windbreaker, headlamp, B-rated boots, poles, sleeping liner (refugios don't provide sleeping bags), minimal washkit, daily water, snacks, phone with power bank. No main food (you get it at the refuge).
Can I do half the trek if I don't have 10 days?
Yes. Most-demanded options: Candanchú → Torla (5 stages, western Aragón + Ordesa section) or Torla → Salardú (5 stages, Posets-Maladeta + Aigüestortes section). Contact us to close whichever half you want.
