Description

Tudanca is a small village declared a National Historic-Artistic Site in 1983, tucked into the heart of the Nansa Valley at 460 metres altitude. Its stone hamlet, pressed against the hillside, preserves the essence of the Cantabrian mountains entirely intact.

The most emblematic building is the Casona de Tudanca, built in 1752 by returning emigrant Pascual Fernandez de Linares. For decades it was home to writer Jose Maria de Cossio, member of the Royal Spanish Academy and author of "Los Toros". Today it is a public museum housing over 25,000 volumes and original correspondence from Lorca, Unamuno, Alberti, Gerardo Diego and Miguel Hernandez.

From the Potro viewpoint above the village, a breathtaking panorama unfolds across the Nansa Valley, surrounded by mountains exceeding 1,800 metres. Tudanca is a starting point for hiking routes to Cueto Forcada and the high mountain pastures.
