Description

Sad Hill is the cemetery from the final scene of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966, Sergio Leone), one of the most famous sequences in cinema history. Located in the Mirandilla Valley (Contreras, Burgos), it was rebuilt by volunteers from 2015 after decades of abandonment.

Today it is a cinephile pilgrimage site: 5,000 circular graves recreate the duel scene between Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach. An information panel and sculpture commemorate the filming. Ennio Morricone's soundtrack plays in every visitor's head.

The setting is an austere Burgos páramo that perfectly matches the spaghetti western spirit. Access via track from Contreras or Santo Domingo de Silos (20 km). Combines with Covarrubias, La Yecla and Silos.
