Description

The panorama from Monte Igueldo over La Concha bay is one of Spain's most photographed: the crescent-shaped beach, Santa Clara island, Chillida's Peine del Viento and San Sebastián's skyline. Visitor Tips

Funicular runs every 15 min (~€4). The hilltop amusement park is vintage and charming. Best panorama at sunset. La Concha has full services. Barandilla promenade: walk the entire bay. Parking difficult in summer — use bus or funicular.

Historical Facts

The Monte Igueldo funicular has operated since 1912, one of Spain's oldest. La Concha was a beach for Spanish royalty: Queen María Cristina summered here from 1887, making San Sebastián Spain's summer capital.
