Description

Visit and tasting at Bodegas Ysios, in Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa). The winery, designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2001, sits at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria and is one of the most architecturally recognisable wineries in Spain: an undulating cedar-wood and aluminium roof that echoes the line of the mountains, more than 200 metres long. Since 2014 it has belonged to the Pernod Ricard group.

The visit is guided and runs through the architecture, the winery, the vineyard and a final tasting. Three modalities are offered, all with prior booking: a basic visit with tasting (18€), a personalised premium visit for couples (350€ for 2 people, 175€/pax) and the exclusive Winecar Tour through the singular plots of the estate for 3-4 people (600€/pax). Languages: Spanish, English and French.

Laguardia is the medieval-walled village that crowns Rioja Alavesa, surrounded by 19th-century wineries and avant-garde architecture wineries (Marqués de Riscal, Baigorri, Ysios). The destination combines wine, gastronomy, scenic viewpoints over the Ebro and walled medieval heritage.
