Here, medieval city walls and remnants of former synagogues—now converted into churches—stand as silent witnesses to the Jewish presence in Seville since the Middle Ages. This walk offers a deep immersion into this enduring cultural legacy, as you navigate a historic urban fabric that still holds its original character and spirit. ">The Experience"> For about two and a half hours, you’ll stroll through cobbled streets and flower-filled patios, breathing in the scent of orange trees and listening to the hush of narrow passageways. You’ll visit the synagogues of Santa María la Blanca and San Bartolomé, and view archaeological remains including medieval city walls and a historic Jewish cemetery. The walk concludes at the Seville Cathedral, where you’ll discover subtle references to Jewish history and the tomb of Saint Ferdinand. ">For Whom"> This experience is ideal for adults and older children over 6 who are interested in Jewish and Sephardic history, or those seeking a culturally rich urban walk. It is not recommended for individuals with severe mobility limitations or families with very young children due to the narrow, cobblestone streets. ">Local Context"> The expert guides—historians and scholars—share vivid narratives that reveal how Jewish influence shaped Seville’s architecture and urban planning. They connect the city’s memory and traditions to the lasting mark left by a community that profoundly shaped the city’s identity.
