Context

The Baix Ebre Greenway is a 22 km cycling route that follows a restored former railway line in the Baix Ebre region of Tarragona. This scenic path offers a gentle downhill gradient of -4%, passing through 20 tunnels and crossing 5 viaducts that span the riverbanks of the Ebro River. The route connects historic towns and protected natural areas, and is accessible year-round for all fitness levels.

The Experience

Starting in Tortosa, you begin your ride surrounded by the constant murmur of the Ebro River and cool air flowing through the tunnels. The paved surface ensures a comfortable descent as you cross viaducts offering panoramic views of the Natural Park of els Ports. At the hermitage of La Fontcalda, you pause to refresh and enjoy the breeze and the scent of riverside vegetation. The journey ends in Benifallet, where a shuttle returns you to Salou.
