Context
The Castellaso ferrata is located in an old quarry in Sesué, nestled in the heart of the Benasque Valley. This route takes advantage of the quarry’s natural rock formations to create a 280-meter technical climb with 180 meters of elevation gain. As you ascend, the wind carries the scent of thyme, and sweeping views of the Ésera River and the surrounding valley accompany every step.
The Experience
After equipping yourself with a certified harness, helmet, and life-line damper, you begin the ascent on secure bolts and continuous safety cables. You’ll face four short drops with high exposure, testing both technique and focus. The route includes escape points fitted with rappel rings, allowing for a controlled descent if needed. The sounds of wind and nature surround the quarry, creating a deeply immersive experience.
For Whom
This ferrata is suitable for those with prior experience in ferratas or rock climbing, good physical fitness, and no fear of heights. It’s ideal for young people and adults aged 12 and older seeking a moderate challenge with technical drops. Not recommended for individuals with vertigo or limited mobility.
