Context
The circular hiking route along the Cabriel River runs through the Natural Site of Las Hoces del Río Cabriel, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This protected area, located between the regions of Valencia and Cuenca, offers a landscape shaped by Mediterranean forest and dramatic, sharply defined rock formations known locally as "Cuchillos" (knives). The trail follows the river for approximately 11 km, with a total elevation gain of about 271 meters, making it ideal for a calm and relaxing walk.

Along the hike, you'll follow dirt paths and some paved sections that run close to the water. The constant sound of the river and the songs of birds provide a peaceful soundtrack throughout the journey. You’ll pass through shaded areas beneath pine trees, offering natural coolness, and stop at natural viewpoints to admire the Contreras Dam and the deep river gorges. Some sections feature wooden handrails that help ensure safe interaction with the environment.

This route is suitable for people with light physical activity levels, families with children over 6 years old who can walk for about two hours, and older adults with good mobility. It is not recommended for those seeking challenging trails or water-based activities, nor for individuals with very limited mobility without assistance.
