From Madrid: A-5 to Navalmoral de la Mata, EX-118 to Guadalupe (2h 30min). From Cáceres: EX-390 (1h 30min). From Mérida: N-430 (2h). Guadalupe is the geopark's logistics centre.
Geography
2,544 km² territory in southeastern Cáceres. Appalachian syncline relief (parallel ridges and narrow valleys). Villuercas peak (1,601 m). Rivers Ibor, Viejas and Guadalupejo with natural pools. Palaeozoic substrate 500-600 million years old.

What is a geopark?

Can you visit the Castañar Cave?
Very limited. Access restricted to 40 visitors/month for conservation. Appointments must be requested months in advance from the Junta de Extremadura.
What to see in Guadalupe?
The Royal Monastery (UNESCO Heritage), the Mudéjar cloister, the town with arcades and the surrounding chestnut groves. Allow at least half a day.
