Description

A spectacular river gorge on the southern face of Sierra de Gredos where water has carved pilones — giant cauldrons — of crystal-clear water among polished granite rocks. The hiking route (12 km return) descends through oak, chestnut and alder trees to natural pools where bathing is free in summer. Los Pilones, the most photographed spot, are granite bowls carved by river erosion with turquoise water at 15-18°C.
