Context The route runs through northern Tenerife, beginning at the National Park of Teide, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This protected area safeguards Spain's highest peak, Mount Teide, standing at 3,718 meters, along with its unique volcanic formations. The crisp, clean mountain air accompanies your walk along the Cañadas, where volcanic terrain reveals rugged textures and earthy hues.

The Experience The excursion begins with a scenic transfer to the National Park, followed by a guided walk along natural trails offering views of the Roque de García. Next, you visit iconic villages: in Icod de los Vinos, you’ll see the ancient Drago Milenario, a centuries-old tree that symbolizes the island; in Garachico, you’ll explore natural lava-formed pools and the historic town center; and in Masca, nestled in a ravine of the Teno Massif, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the coastline. The wind carries scents of thyme and Canary pine.

For Whom This route suits people with moderate physical fitness and prior experience hiking on natural terrain and ravines. It’s suitable for those over 8 years old who enjoy combining nature and culture, and for small groups seeking personalized attention. Not recommended for individuals with limited mobility or those preferring low-effort activities.

Local Context The visited villages preserve traditional Canarian practices, such as vine growing in Icod and traditional fishing in Garachico. Masca maintains its traditional architecture and close ties to the Teno Massif, a protected natural area where shepherds still practice transhumance. Local cuisine can be enjoyed at recommended stops, enriching the cultural experience.
