Rafting on the Segura River in Almadenes Canyon, Calasparra, offers an active tourism experience in a protected natural area. This easy section of the river is perfect for families and all ages to enjoy nature safely and comfortably. You'll raft with certified guides who explain the riverside forest and local wildlife, including the otters living in the river.
The trip includes stops at caves with unique karst formations, like the Cave of the Monigotes, featuring rock paintings over 8,000 years old, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll also visit the Otter Cave, connecting you with the area's history and biodiversity. The experience includes rock art workshops and a photo report documenting the journey.
The activity lasts about three hours, with two hours on the river, and includes all necessary gear: raft, life jacket, helmet, and paddle. Internal transfers, changing rooms, showers, and accident insurance are provided. The meeting point is the Almadenes Canyon car park, easily reached from Calasparra and nearby towns.
This section differs from the Blanca stretch further south by its calmer environment and accessible karst caves. It's ideal for those seeking a close connection with nature, history, and local culture, where water, rock, and forest combine for a relaxed, educational experience.
