The Reserva Natural del Sabinar de Calatañazor, in Soria, is home to a forest of ancient junipers dating back to the Tertiary Era, a natural vestige of great ecological value. This protected environment offers a landscape where time seems to have stood still, featuring tree formations unique in Europe and views of the Abión river and nearby villages.
The flight begins at sunrise from the Calatañazor takeoff field. After a safety briefing, the balloon rises gently, allowing you to float several meters above the ground while the wind caresses your face and the burner emits its characteristic sound. From the air, you can contemplate the ancient junipers, the course of the river, and the silhouette of Muriel de la Fuente. Binoculars facilitate the observation of birds of prey in their natural habitat. Upon landing, the fresh scent of the countryside accompanies a rustic lunch with local products and a toast with cava, closing the experience with a certificate of participation.
This activity is ideal for people of all ages seeking a slow and contemplative experience, nature lovers and birdwatchers, as well as family or friend groups interested in combining landscape and local gastronomy. It is not recommended for people with very limited mobility or an intense fear of heights.
Calatañazor and its surroundings keep rural and natural traditions alive, with communities that preserve ancestral practices and a gastronomy based on indigenous products. The Reserva Natural is a symbol of conservation that connects visitors with the history and landscape of Castilla y León.
