What you'll experience

Arrival and historic center

Arrival in Alcalá del Júcar mid-afternoon, check-in at the hostel and first walk through the town center with the guide: steep streets, viewpoints overlooking the gorge, bridge over the river and sunset from the climb to the castle. Welcome dinner at the hostel.
Castle, caves and path to the viewpoint

Cultural morning: visit to the Moorish castle and the Caves of the Devil and Garadén, which traverse the hill from side to side. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, short trail through the gorge to a natural viewpoint overlooking the canyon (8-10 km, +250 m). Dinner.
Long route through the Júcar gorge

Most complete stage: 12-14 km of hiking through the gorge, with shaded sections along the river and a climb to a hilltop with wide views (+550 m elevation gain). Packed lunch or at a roadside eatery. Free afternoon for swimming in the river or relaxing. Dinner.
Bullring, farewell and return

Last morning: visit to the curious bullring partially excavated into the rock and a final walk through viewpoints and corners that were left pending. Check-out after breakfast and farewell. Return on your own.

Who this fits

It fits if you enjoy walking at a moderate pace (8 to 14 km a day with up to 550 m of cumulative gain) and prefer exploring one place in depth over hopping between villages. It is not for those after technical adventure, nor for those needing a four-star hotel: the plan is honest, rural and small-town. It is also not ideal with small children due to the steep sections.

Do I need previous hiking experience?

No. The routes are moderate, suitable for anyone with average fitness. We walk 8 to 14 km a day with frequent stops.

Can I come solo or as a couple?

Yes. The group is small (2-10 people) and we run both open and private departures. Confirm at booking.

What happens if it rains?

The plan adapts: on rainy days we focus on cultural visits (castle, caves, museum) and save the exposed routes for stable days.

Are the caves accessible?

Some have narrow sections and steps. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility or severe claustrophobia.
