Description

Oyambre Natural Park protects 5,758 hectares of western Cantabrian coast between Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera. Declared in 1988, it encompasses beaches, dunes, cliffs, estuaries and meadows forming one of the most complete coastal landscapes on the Cantabrian Sea.

Playa de Oyambre and Playa de Meron are its largest sandy stretches, flanked by dune systems among the most important in northern Spain. The estuaries of San Vicente and La Rabia feed marshlands of great ecological value, a refuge for migratory birds and breeding ground for numerous species.

Monte Corona, in the park interior, preserves a forest of centennial holm oaks and oaks. From the coastal cliffs, the Picos de Europa are visible on clear days, creating a panorama that encapsulates all of Cantabria's diversity in a single view.
