Description

Pesues is the capital of the Val de San Vicente municipality, nestled at the mouth of the River Nansa where it flows into the Tina Menor estuary. This small rural settlement preserves a remarkable collection of traditional Cantabrian mountain architecture, with stone manor houses and wooden balconies reflecting centuries of local life.

Among its most distinctive buildings stands La Azotea, a 19th-century palatial building whose elegant facade dominates the village skyline. The ruins of the church of San Pedro de Pesues, destroyed during the Civil War, serve as a silent witness to the village's history.

The natural setting around Pesues is exceptional. The Tina Menor estuary, where the Nansa meets the Cantabrian Sea, creates a 155-hectare wetland of immense ecological value. From here, visitors can easily reach the wild beaches of Pechon and the natural border with Asturias via the historic bridge over the River Deva.
