Best time to visit

July–August for the Camino Primitivo in good weather with thermal baths on return. June and September for Sil canyoning at suitable flow levels. Avoid winter in Os Ancares unless prepared for snow.

Practical tips

Lugo city is the only city in the world with a complete Roman wall circuit (2.1 km, 10 gates). Use it as a base for the Camino Primitivo and surrounding thermal spas. For Ribeira Sacra, book boat trips well in advance in summer; places sell out in July–August.
