Together with Mombeltrán, San Esteban del Valle, Villarejo del Valle and Santa Cruz del Valle, it forms the Cinco Villas, a group of mountain villages with stone and timber architecture preserving the rural essence of Gredos.
The village is a base for adventure activities: canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, horseback riding and hiking in the sierra. Local active tourism companies operate from here, taking advantage of the natural wealth: gorges, chestnut forests and the Gredos peaks just kilometres away.
The Roman Road of Puerto del Pico, connecting the plateau with the Tiétar valley, crosses the area and is a spectacular historic route. The Cuevas del Águila, one of Spain's most visited caves, are 10 km away.
